In Mother's Shadow- study

This is the preparatory drawing for the upcoming oil painting, "In Mother's Shadow". This beautiful pair enjoys the soft sun and meadows of their idyllic home. Mother casts a long shadow of great ancestry through the ages of Irish horses. Her colt looks forward, but keeps one ear turned towards mother, always tuned to his heart and his heritage. As he grows, strengthening his long legs on the lush fields, he will become the triumph of his lineage as a Sporthorse. Whether in world class show jumping, Olympic dressage, or the beloved partner of a talented amateur, he will himself cast a long shadow.
